For our Finance team in Madrid and Berlin we are - initially limited to 24 months - recruiting for a:

Financial Controller Germany, Switzerland & Austria (f/m)

The role will be based in Berlin. The Controller is responsible for the overall oversight of accounting activities, balance sheet reporting and reconciliations, statutory reporting including indirect tax and internal control environment for the region. The Controller is to work closely with Finance Shared Services to ensure transactions are recorded with completeness and accuracy from an accounting standpoint. The Controller will also work closely with the local FP&A team in order to ensure revenues and costs are booked correctly and in the correct period in accordance with Local and US GAAP.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the statutory reporting process including engaging with external auditors, obtaining supporting documentation from own records and Shared Services, preparing statutory adjustments and disclosing and drafting annual reports with Federal authorities
• Manage local tax audit process in collaboration with Viacom tax department, obtaining supporting documentation from own records and Shared Services, preparing responses to the tax auditor’s questions
• Manage local tax filings with the local tax authorities with the support of local tax advisors
• Responsible for accuracy of the balance sheet, report on key accounts and prepare balance sheet variance analysis on a monthly basis
• Work closely with the FP&A team and business to review significant new deals and partnerships and advise on accounting treatment for both US and Local GAAP
• Oversee monthly close activities performed by Shared Services, instruct on any judgmental or non-recurring entries to be made and approve certain journals
• Work closely with the FP&A team on review of the P&L to ensure completeness and accuracy and instruct Shared Services on any corrections or adjustments to be made
• Ensure financial reporting is timely, accurate, reliable and supported by qualitative analysis in adherence to US GAAP
• Review balance sheet account reconciliations, roll forward schedules and quarterly/supplemental schedules prepared by Shared Services
• Maintain relationship with the Shared Services and ensure that they preserve the integrity of financial records and process transactions accurately and in accordance with local statutory and tax requirements
• Assist the business and outside parties with issue resolution regarding accounts payable and invoicing and collection efforts regarding accounts receivable where necessary.
• Support tax processing (including VAT and WHT) and review filings prepared by Shared Services Center
• Oversee and own execution of local controls and support compliance needs

That‘s why we want you:

• Master’s degree in Financial Accounting
• Minimum of 8 years of experience within related roles
• Solid US GAAP and German GAAP knowledge and working experience
• Expert knowledge of SAP
• Self-starter, independent worker who is assertive, enthusiastic and takes full ownership
• Strong and extensive experience in working with Finance Shared Services team & environment
• Excellent problem analysis and solving skills in a complex and fast-moving environment;
• Good and tactical communication skills and ability to make decisions and influence
• Superior MS Office (Excel) skills and fluent in English and German
